What is the Bye-Bye, Beverage! Challenge?

The Bye-Bye, Beverage! Challenge is a fun Wellness challenge designed to motivate you to eliminate unhealthy drinks from your diet for 30 days. Drinking soda, diet soda, energy drinks or alcohol can deprive your body of the nutrients it needs and contribute to a number of health issues. Now’s your chance to eliminate one or more of these beverages from your diet so you can take better care of yourself. A few of the benefits of removing unhealthy drinks include feeling better, losing or maintaining weight, sleeping better and increasing productivity and energy! So say, “Bye-bye, beverage!” and start feeling better today!

How do I participate?

Register for the challenge by the first day of the month it’s offered (check the Wellness Calendar for details). Print out the Bye-Bye, Beverage! tracker and post it where you’ll see it daily. Then, eliminate the beverage of your choice from your diet for 30 days and check off each day you stick with the challenge.

Do I have to completely avoid the beverage for the whole 30 days?

Ideally, yes. But whether you eliminate the beverage or just cut back, you’ll want to keep track of how many days you said bye-bye to your beverage of choice.

Is there a prize for completing the challenge?

All participants who complete the challenge will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win an awesome prize.

How will I know if I’ve won?

We will post the winners’ names on Scentral.

What are some tips for successfully completing this challenge?

• Be committed and make a plan.
• Each day, write down how you’re feeling and why you want to say bye-bye to your beverage.
• Remove the beverage of your choice—whether that’s soda, diet soda, alcohol or processed, sugary drinks—
from your home before you start, so there are no temptations.
• Focus on what you can drink, not what you can’t.
• Drink more water — aim for six to eight glasses of water a day.
• Add fresh fruit or herbs to your water for a little flavor.
• Choose sparkling or mineral water instead of soda.
• Use a marked water bottle to encourage you to increase your H2O intake.
• Reward yourself for hitting your daily goals.

Do I get a cheat day?

Nope. If you drink the beverage you’ve decided to eliminate during the 30 days, you can’t count that day
toward the challenge.

What do I do when the challenge is over?

After Day 30, record your days without your beverage to be entered into a drawing for a chance to win an awesome prize.

How can I connect with the Bye-Bye, Beverage! Challenge on social media?

Post pictures or updates of your progress on Scentral. That way, other employees can follow your journey and you can motivate others to take the first step toward a healthier life!
